The maps below demonstrate a significant pipeline of clean growth projects across Wales, showing how — together — these developments are shaping the next chapter of Welsh industry, securing our status as a clean energy transition hub and a cornerstone of the UK industrial base.
The maps also identify the industrial ‘anchor projects’ and clean energy projects that are being developed across Wales. Together, these projects will reduce industrial emissions significantly. Also included are new grid enhancements, and hydrogen pipelines which will support delivery of clean power to commercial consumers.
The additional maps demonstrate how clean energy and industrial decarbonisation can also unlock prosperity across Wales, generating and retaining good jobs and making sure that emissions reduction does not mean sending jobs and industry abroad.

OPERATIONAL WIND ENERGY PROJECTS
This map shows current operational wind energy infrastructure, including key interconnectors like the East West Interconnector. It demonstrates the significant level of wind capacity here in Wales, which can be built on to meet Wales’ net zero goals.

FUTURE RENEWABLES PIPELINE
This map shows Wales’ future renewables pipeline, superimposed onto operational wind capacity in development that form the backbone of Wales’ future renewables capacity. It includes major offshore wind development zones in the Celtic Sea, new tidal energy projects, and emerging transmission links like Greenlink and Western HVDC. Together, these projects will increase the amount of energy we can generate from renewables and will ensure greater connectivity.

INDUSTRIAL DECARBONISATION 'ANCHOR' PROJECTS
This map builds on the above by adding industrial decarbonisation ‘anchor’ projects that form the backbone of Welsh industry.
Key developments include low-carbon cement and power facilities, carbon capture & storage projects, new hydrogen pipelines, and north-south grid enhancements — all of which are crucial in making Wales a clean energy transition hub and a cornerstone of the UK industrial base.

JOBS & GVA FROM RENEWABLES
This map focuses on the economic opportunities that are open to Wales as a result of building clean energy infrastructure — revealing the potential for over 8,000 jobs and £574 million in GVA per year if we make the most of renewables and decarbonisation. It highlights how clean growth can support well-paid, long-term employment and prevent further deindustrialisation across Wales.

Net Zero Industry Wales is the governing body of Wales’ growing number of regional industrial clusters and place-based Industrial Hubs. These are the South Wales Industrial Cluster (SWIC) and North East Wales Industrial Decarbonisation Cluster (NEWID), as well as established hubs like The Milford Haven Energy Cluster and Deeside Decarbonisation Forum.
